OUR PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE POLICY
Peanut/Tree Nut free at Camp Timberlane means that our food does not contain peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil or any form or derivative of peanut or tree nut in the least. Our peanut/tree nut free foods do not contain peanut stearate or “traces of peanut”. Even if the ingredient label reads, “May have traces of nuts or peanut,” we treat this label as if it read, “has nuts or peanuts”.
As a Peanut/Tree Nut Free camp we make every attempt to ensure that no person is placed in a situation and/or environment that may endanger their life and therefore we take the following precautions:
- Every summer our staff are re-educated about the dangers that can be associated with peanuts and similar nut products to children & adults with severe allergies.
- Parents of children who have a known allergy to nuts / peanuts are consulted prior to camp with regard to the severity of the childʼs allergy, the symptoms and the emergency procedures to be followed in case of an allergic reaction.
- Every child with a NUT allergy will carry and have direct access to an Epipen, all staff are trained on how to administer an Epipen.
- No food of any kind will be allowed to be brought into camp.
At Camp Timberlane there is no need for campers to bring money to camp. However there are occasional opportunities or outings a camper may wish to have some of their own spending money. The following are the suggested amounts to be arranged as available on account:
2 Week Camper – $50.00 4 Week Camper – $100.00 Full Season Camper – $150.00
Most children will not exceed these guidelines and many will not use this at all. Our aim at Timberlane is to keep these to an essential minimum. This money will be given to your child by the trip supervisor.
