Canoe Tripping
Timberlane is noted and respected for its extensive Canoe Trip Program.
Every camper, 11 years of age and older, is given the opportunity of going on at
least one canoe trip, guided by carefully trained and experienced staff. Using top
quality equipment we explore the lakes of Algonquin Park, Kilarney and the Temagami
Wilderness.
Campers develop camping and canoeing skills, as well as knowledge
of water safety and how to read the weather. Most important, campers will begin
to develop a wonderful love of the Canadian outdoors. Campers will share the experience
and intimacy of a campfire beside the edge of a northern lake or river at the end
of a long day of adventure. It is a rare opportunity to feel the solitude and peace
of open clear skies, the deep woods and clean waters. Canoe trips can be the hight
point of the summer for most campers, with memories that will endure for a lifetime.
Overnights
Campers experience and enjoy the true outdoor experience during Timberlane’s overnight trips. Campers will either travel to a special, on-site overnight location called “SeasScout” or travel to other destinations off campground into the wilds of Algonquin Park and other campground areas. Learning how to set up tents, enjoy the outdoors and roast marshmallows on an open campfire are some of the memories that campers take home with them, and last a lifetime.
Kayak Trips
As an alternative to Canoe Trips, Kayak Trips at Timberlane are fun and challenging. Campers travel by lake and portage to destinations in Algonquin Park, enjoying much of the same activities offered within our Canoe Trip program, but by different means of transportation. This variation offers a different set of challenges and enjoyment, ensuring fun and rewards for campers of all ages.
Bike Trips
Campers travel through the back trails of Haliburton, Ontario by bike on these trips. The trips are physically demanding, thrilling and fast paced, enticing campers who love the outdoors and speed and want to combine them into one experience.
Golf
Recognizing the value of learning golf at an early age, we provide
opportunities for experienced campers to play golf while at camp. Those campers
will receive additional instruction in the basics of stroke development using our
own driving nets. They then move on to a nearby driving range for further practice,
while keen golfers are taken to local golf courses to enjoy a round of golf.
